I’ll take a few moments to say that I am amazed at the detail that was put into this program. I love it!  Every i has been dotted and every t crossed – Linda is amazing.  I was wary at first since I found it over the internet, but after completing all my research and speaking to Linda twice, I felt confident this was going to be a great training program; however, I did not know how great!   I attended a court reporting “college” 20 years ago – I may have been at 100 WPM – can’t remember now.  Anyway, there’s two things that come to mind in this early stage of my training at home: 1) The cost – it was a waste of money to sit in a classroom having someone dictate to you, and you can go at your own pace, AND you can get up at 4:00 AM if you so choose and practice; 2) By not being in a classroom, you do not have the feedback from instructors or other people to gauge your progress or bounce things off; however, Linda’s program seems to have taken this into account very well. The way it is structured is excellent. You KNOW that you are taking every step in the order you should be to train from home.  You have to have that structure and reassurance in place. I think this also stands out for me, because I have the two experiences to compare.  I could go on and on about how pleased I am.  Linda’s done her work, and you all are there for support.  Now the rest is up to me!

When my husband’s job took us to Rome, I left my well-established job to follow him in this adventure.   We have three children, and the move was exciting.  Once the children settled in their new routine, I had time to think about what I wanted to do with the free time I had.  I knew I wanted to work once back in the States, but wanted something different from what I had been doing for 15 years.  I kept thinking of the time I was called to serve as a juror in a civil case and how impressed I was by the court reporter and her abilities to follow and record the proceedings.

So, I gathered information about on-line court reporter programs, read students’ reviews, compared prices and decided that CRAH was going to be the best program for me.  After all, a training program like CRAH that focuses on teaching the heart and soul of court reporting is what I wanted.  The Staff was wonderful from the very beginning.  They helped with all the details of having the materials and the writer shipped to Italy and figuring out what was needed to make the writer work in a country which uses a different voltage system.
I began the program at the end of January, 2012, and I am on track to complete the last theory lesson this week (March, 2012).  I studied about 3 hours a day, six days a week.   Two months is a real short time to complete theory, but the program makes it possible.  The DVD tutorials were useful, especially at the beginning when everything is so new.   The written lessons in the theory book, however, are my favorite.  They are so well written.  The rules are organized in a very intuitive fashion and, therefore, are easy to follow.  I have never had so much fun learning!
Also, I can’t thank CRAH Support Department enough for their excellent support and feedback.  They have always responded to my e-mail queries within a few hours, time zone difference permitting, and the quality of their explanations and advice has been truly first class.
I am looking forward to starting the speed building portion of the training, and then my internship, and being able to write like a professional court reporter.
